Jasmine Uddin (GB)

Jasmine Uddin been in continuous practice as an acupuncturist for thirty five years. She originally graduated from the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) in East Grinstead in the UK in 1981 and continued her clinical training on three visits to China where she studied at the Nanjing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She taught acupuncture for over twenty years, first at ICOM and then at the University of Westminster as a senior lecturer on their acupuncture degree programme. In addition to her practice Jasmine has been actively involved in the work of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) since 1995 with the aim of fostering high standards in acupuncture education and gaining wider recognition for Chinese medicine in mainstream healthcare. She is currently President Emeritus of the BAcC, having been its chairperson from 1996 to 2003 and its President from 2003 to 2006. She represented the BAcC on two Department of Health Working Groups to try and gain statutory regulation for the acupuncture profession in the UK. She is Vice Chair of the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board, an independent body accrediting acupuncture teaching institutions in the UK. A founding member of the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association (ETCMA) Jasmine was its President from 2002 until 2014, when she took on leading its Education and Symposium Committee. As part of ETCMA, she has been developing and organising the European School Leaders at Rothenburg for the last 10 years. Jasmine is also the Editor of the European Journal of Oriental Medicine.
