Rothenburg, 26.05.2025 - The 56th TCM Kongress Rothenburg begins on Wednesday in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, attracting around 550 participants from 24 countries. Over four days, this congress offers TCM therapists and researchers from all over the world an extensive range of courses and workshops, all-day ‘theme days’, lectures and discussion events on current topics in Chinese medicine. This year's congress will focus on ‘Diseases of the respiratory tract and digestive organs’, which are closely linked according to TCM.
New this year is a stronger local concentration of the congress: From 28-31 May 2025, the events will take place in the historic centre of the medieval town of Rothenburg o.d.T. “With this concept of short distances and the use of attractive locations, we can meet the needs of the speakers and our participants even better,” says congress organiser Julia Stier. “And with our specially created new congress app, we offer all guests digital support for planning their visit to the congress with lots of background information and the opportunity to easily network with each other.”
In addition to the events on the main topic, the congress programme also offers many courses from other areas of TCM, for example
- Acupuncture in the emergency services
- Strategies against allergies: concepts of current allergy research in dialogue with TCM
- Herbs and medicines hand in hand: interactions, synergies, exclusion criteria
- Integrative nutrition and obesity therapies
Compressed expertise at TCM theme days
An integral part of the TCM Congress for years has been the theme days, where several speakers usually share their expertise for an entire day. The following theme days are taking place this year:
- Theme Day Integrative Nutritional Therapy
- Theme Day CDUTCM - University of Chengdu.
Study trip to China - information event
This year, after a break of several years (due to the coronavirus), the TCM study trip to the AGTCM's partner university took place again for the first time. At the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, study trip participants can study and work directly in the teaching hospital with experienced TCM doctors. These trips will now take place regularly once a year. At the TCM Congress there will be the opportunity to find out more about the trip, the partner university, participation requirements etc. at an information event.
Trade exhibition: TCM products and services
In the exhibition accompanying the congress, 23 exhibitors will present their products and services relating to Chinese medicine. These include, for example, suppliers of practice equipment, acupuncture needles and moxibustion accessories as well as remedies and herbs from Chinese pharmacies.
“We are really looking forward to the congress,” emphasises Gabriele Fischer-Humbert, 2nd Chairwoman of the AGTCM. “Every year, it is a special opportunity to receive further training from top-class TCM experts. And, the congress is also a wonderful opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world. The proximity of the locations in the centre of Rothenburg will provide even more opportunities for this intensive exchange and interaction.”
