Rothenburg, 7 May 2024 – The 55th TCM Kongress Rothenburg opens its doors today to about 650 participants from 30 countries. Until 11 May, the congress in Rothenburg ob der Tauber will be devoted to many different topics in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). From the philosophical principles to scientific studies on TCM and practical applications, the congress offers participants continuing education opportunities in seminars, workshops and lectures. The focus this year is “Shen and Psyche | Cardiovascular Diseases”.
It is expected that the congress will take place at the Wildbad for the last time this year as the Wildbad Conference Center has been sold and will be used in other ways in the future. “We are sorry that we will not be able to meet in Wildbad in the future,“ says Congress Director Julia Stier. “But right now we are looking forward to welcoming all the participants and speakers to Rothenburg and to having an eventful and successful congress with everyone.”
A special feature of this TCM Kongress is the roster of many internationally renowned speakers who will enrich the congress by sharing their knowledge and expertise. Confirmations have been received from several experts from China who are affiliated with the AGTCM partner, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. On Tuesday, 7 May, they will present the day-long seminar “TCM University Chengdu: The Classics in Everyday Practice”. Other speakers from the National Taiwan University also will share their experience during one-day events.
Continuing education on the five pillars of Chinese medicine
“At our congress we offer continuing professional education for all TCM therapists from beginners to experts,“ says Dr. Martina Bögel-Witt, AGTCM President. The Fachverband für Chinesische Medizin is the organizer of the congress. “There are offers from all five pillars of Chinese Medicine,” she says. Included are acupuncture, medicinal and herbal therapy, nutrition therapy, Qigong movement therapy and the Chinese medicine massage therapy Tuina. The program also includes many lectures and seminars from related disciplines such as NADA acupuncture, Western herbs and TCM for animals.
AGTCM abstract prize awarded for the second time
Last year the exhibition of research paper abstracts was so well received that it will be repeated again this year. Researchers from all fields of TCM will present their results and discuss them with congress attendees. The AGTCM will give awards for the best abstracts. The abstract session takes place on Friday, 10 May at 1:30 p.m. in the exhibition area near the Villensaal on Level 8 of the Wildbad Conference Center. At its conclusion, the jury will present this year’s awards in the Villensaal at 3 pm.
Theme days offer concentrated specialist knowledge
Theme days during which several speakers share their expertise in one-day sessions have long been an integral and popular part of every congress. This year the following theme days will take place: Theme Day Paediatrics, Theme Day Fertility, Theme Day Western Herbs, Theme Day Integrative Nutrition Therapy, Theme Day Tuina and Theme Day TCM Research.
Internationally certified continuing education
Many national and international TCM and acupuncture professional associations recognize the congress as a provider of continuing education for which participants receive educational credits.
TCM products and services presented in exhibition
In the exhibition that runs concurrently with the congress, 27 exhibitors from the field of Chinese medicine will present a broad range of products and services such as remedies and herbs from the Chinese pharmacy, specialist literature, equipment for practices, acupuncture needles, moxibustion accessories and high-quality continuing education offers.
