Practical Orientation

Kiiko Matsumoto is a modern-day master who has received much acclaim for her palpation-based style of acupuncture. She teaches new material every time in her workshops all over Europe. However, because of her fast-paced style of teaching, and her vast experience, advanced thinking, and the assumed knowledge that is assumed from the students, it is not easy to follow for all students.

In this class, we will explore the background of Matsumoto sensei's teachings, the basic thinking, the why and the what. To really understand what underlies Matsumoto's thinking, a lot of background material will be presented. The student should leave with an understanding of how the effective treatment strategies of Matsumoto sensei are build up, as well as ideas and inspiration of how to start applying a palpation-based approach of acupuncture in their own clinics.
The examples will be illustrated by hands-on demonstrations.

Although Matsumoto sensei teaches a form of "Japanese acupuncture", it is very different from Japanese meridian-style acupuncture and Toyohari. It's basis are the Huang Di Nei Jing, the Nan Jing as well as modern anatomy and Physiology.

Interested students are encouraged to buy the books "Kiiko Matsumoto's Clinical Strategies in the Spirit of Master Nagano, Vol. 1" and "Kiiko Matsumoto's Clinical Strategies in the Spirit of Master Nagano, Vol. 2", by Kiiko Matsumoto and David Euler.
Students should further bring an open and inquisitive mind, lots of enthusiasm and questions from their own clinics.
