Treating attention issues in children with chinese medicine
Attention disorders, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), have become more prevalent in the past decade, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. These disorders can impair one’s ability to focus, learn, and function in daily life. In this course we will start by reviewing the patho-mechanisms leading to attention disorders and the possible patterns of diagnosis. Sensory regulation, inflammation, the gut brain relationship, and other disorders will be discussed in relation to attention. We will then discuss the role of the heart in paying attention and the pathologies that can arise leading to difficulty attending. We will also compare the differential diagnosis of inattention resulting from other organs.
In the afternoon I will demonstrate the diagnosis and treatment of live, in person, patients in a “grand rounds” style presentation, where you will have the opportunity to observe and ask questions.
We are looking for 2-3 children patients that have issues related to attention and are willing to be interviewed and treated in front of the group.
