Morning session: How to think like our medical ancestors did when prescribing herbs

In part III JulieAnn lays out the path to flexibly using herbs with a classical mindset: through the lens of yin and yang theory, flavor nature, the Huang Di Nei Jing and the Shen Nong Ben Cao.   Learning to understand herbs as the great scholars did, we can understand how they chose the herbs they did, and why those classical formulations have stood the test of time. Once we understand their simple yet profound use of herbs, we can skillfully create our own formulas in the clinic.
Afternoon session: the What, Why & Who in custom prescription

With the traditional practitioner mindset in place, we can then immediately apply classical thinking to every formula prescribed. Answering the questions of what we are treating, why it happened, and who it has happened to, then filtering that through the lens of classical thinking means we are no longer bound by rigid TCM style pattern diagnosis and formulations.. By seeing the strength of Yin and Yang, the flow of Qi and Blood in each patient clearly in front of us at the moment of treatment, we can judge what we have to do, why a condition occured, and the appropriate intensity of formula.  In part IV of this course, JulieAnn will include case histories from her practice to illustrate theory and bring clinical application to life.
