In this full day of lectures Dr Keown will systematically build a model of the body that is both beautifully simple and completely consistent with Chinese medicinal theory. This model is called the Six Divisions and was first mentioned in the Shang Han Lun in the 2nd Century AD.

The Six Divisions is, arguably, the only model of the body that you require; and, is so complete that Western medicine can be subsumed within it. Importantly, every aspect of the body from arteries through to the zygomatic arch can be placed within the divisions. As a result practitioners can free up valuable thinking space for the important task of getting the treatment right!

The outline for the days lectures will be:

    Morning Session 1

The Western Model of the Body
The Proof of Divisions - Germ Layers
    The Three Divisions and Jellyfish
The Six Divisions and Complex Animals
    The Role of each Division.

Each division will then be considered separately with the following points covered:

    Divisions and their Environmental Influence
The Organs of the Divisions and their Function.
    The Tissue of the Division.
    The Anatomy of the Channel.
    Pathology of the Division.
    Clinical Examples

    Morning Session 2

Taiyang - Skin, bladder and autonomic nervous system.
    Shaoyang - Fascia and Lymph

    Afternoon Session 1

Yangming - The muscular layer of intestines
Taiyin - Mucosal layer of intestines, spleen, pancreas and lungs

    Afternoon Session 2

Shaoyin - Blood, arterial blood vessels, kidney and heart.
Jueyin - Peritoneum, pericardium, pleural channel and liver.

Bonus Session! The Extraordinary Channels made Ridiculously Easy. A quick guide to how the Extraordinary Channels can be explained in simple Western terms.
