Theory of Acupuncture - Get Your Theory on Point to Nail Your Practice EN

The basics of acupuncture theory are understanding qi; the channels (jing luo); qi flow; the pathogens; and, the effect of acupuncture on the body. The clearer and more accurately we can understand these basics the better we can understand the patients pathology and create successful treatments.

In this session Dr Keown will discuss how we can understand these pillars of acupuncture theory whilst, remarkably, staying within the modern scientific paradigm. Science itself should be understood as the search for truth: in this way practitioners of Chinese medicine have nothing to fear from approaching acupuncture within a scientific paradigm and potentially much to learn.

The general gist of the lecture (and, in fact, all Dr Keown’s work) is that the Chinese description of the body is not only incredibly accurate but also very simple to comprehend. This is, of course, completely in accord with the classical descriptions whom used water and nature analogies throughout their texts.

This session will walk through the basics of acupuncture theory addressing the following points:

What is Qi?
What are the channels or jing luo mai?
How does qi function in the organs?
A simple understanding of pathology and pathological substances.
The Four Levels and knotting: how does acupuncture do things no other medicine can?

As with all his sessions the talk will be sprinkled with clinical examples and tips to get you better results in the clinic.
