From 1977 to 1983 Astrid worked at various clinics as a medical X-ray assistant and studied biology at Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. Following, she completed a training as non-medical practitioner at the Heilpraktikerfachschule in Hochheim, Germany, and her Chinese pharmacology training in 1993 with Barbara Kirschbaum.
She is co-founder of the Training Centre Mitte for Classical Acupuncture and TCM in Offenbach, Germany and she has been head and lecturer there since 1993. In addition, Astrid has been member of the Working Group for Classical Acupuncture and TCM since 1986.
Astrid has been conducting point localisation courses in Rothenburg since 1996 and has her own practice since 1987.
She visited China in 2009, 2011 and 2016 for studies.
