Dr. Heiner Frühauf is a professor at the College of Classical Chinese Medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He received his PhD from the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago in 1990. He then completed a two-year research residency at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and began publishing in the field of Chinese Medicine. Since 1992, he has taught and practiced on the West Coast of the United States, where he founded one of the leading US doctoral programmes focusing on classical Chinese Medicine in 1994. For the past 25 years, his research has focused on documenting and interpreting the cosmological foundations of Chinese Medicine, as well as treating life-threatening and chronic diseases with Chinese phytotherapy.
