Janet Pimentel Paredes
Educational Background: Studied Preparatory to Pre-Med at the University of the East, Manila in 1974. Graduated Bachelor of Science. in Sociology at the Polytechnic University, Manila. Post Graduate Course: Professional Diploma Course in Family Ministry at the RMT CEFAM, Ateneo in 2003. Candidate for Master in Social Services Development at the Asian Social Institute who recently defended her thesis proposal entitled: Healing People One Needle at a Time. The Lived Experiences of NADA Acupuncture Detoxification Specialists in the Philippines. A Phenomenological Study.
Development Work / Local and International Studies
Started her development work at the Acupuncture Therapeutic and Research Center in Quezon City from 1995 to 2009 and up to the present time, with NADA Philippines. Ms. Paredes’ involvement in development work, coordination, management and implementation in the public and private sectors at the national and local levels for almost 30 years contributed to her career growth in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Likewise, her exposure to community work made her versatile and adept to various working environments and provides her comprehensive knowledge of local cultures. Ms. Paredes is an integrative medicine development worker and has been an instructor in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) since 1995. Her acupuncture training came from various local and international institutions: Acupuncture Therapeutic and Research Center Inc. (ATRC now INAM Philippines), Philippine-China Development Resource Center in Cooperation with the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Basic and Advance Acupuncture with the Beijing College of Orthopedics and Acupuncture, Intensive Course in Acupuncture under Dr. Paul Kadetz through Philippine Academy of Acupuncture, Inc. (PAAI), NADA Protocol Ear Acupuncture for Addiction and Mental Health at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center Acupuncture Training Institute at the South Bronx, NYC, USA under Dr. Michael O Smith (founder) and Carlos Alvarez. Took the NADA Registered Trainer in 2009 at the Brighton Hospital, Michigan, USA.
She received her Continuing Education (CE) in Chinese Classics and the Balanced Method at the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), Boston, MA, USA.
She is the First Filipina to represent the Philippines at the TCM Kongress, Rothenburg Germany in 2012. At this Kongress, Ms. Paredes was able to study (CE) unde Dr. Julian Scott, the treatment of Children in Acupuncture and further did apprenticeship work with children under Ms. Sieglinder Wilz in Berlin, a pioneer in the treatment of children in Berlin, Germany.

Since 2015, has been a frequent speaker at the DOH PITAHC TAHC forum/conferences in the Philippines.
Positions in the Past:
Senior Faculty member of the Acupuncture Therapeutic and Research Center,( ATRC )from 1995 to 2009. Have been part of the Executive Committee of ATRC and INAM since the start. Founding Officer of the Philippine Academy of Acupuncture, Inc.from 2009 to 2019.

Founder and President of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), Inc. RMT CEFAM Family Counselor since 2010, member of the Counseling Cluster.
TCM Practitioner since 1995 to present. Department of Health Philippines-Philippine Institute of Traditional Health Care, Certified Acupuncturist since 2009.
