Prof. Dr. med. habil. Karin Meissner, M.Sc., is Professor for Integrative Medicine at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Head of the Placebo Research Group at the Institute of Medical Psychology, LMU Munich. Her research focuses on meta-analyses of placebo effects in clinical trials, psychobiological correlates of placebo effects in nausea and appetite, and the use of ‘omic techniques to elucidate the biological mechanisms underlying placebo effects. Her current research also focuses on the scientific evaluation of CAM treatments and the development of innovative tools to objectively measure “health”. She authored and co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers and participated as principal investigator in the DFG research unit “Expectation and conditioning as basic processes of the placebo and nocebo response” (FOR 1328).
