Lee Hullender Rubin

In clinical practice since 2002, Dr. Lee Hullender Rubin is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, licensed acupuncturist, and a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine. She specializes in reproductive medicine, chronic pain, women’s health, female pelvic pain, vulvovaginal pain, anxiety, and depression. She also has extensive experience with cancer-related pain and fatigue, hormone disorders, insomnia, digestive disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She uses the whole system of traditional Chinese medicine in her clinical work, including acupuncture and its associated treatments, Chinese herbs, dietary and lifestyle counseling, and mindfulness exercises.

She was in private practice from 2002 to 2010 in Washington, where she also started and managed an acupuncture program at Northwest Center for Reproductive Sciences, a conventional fertility clinic. In 2010, she relocated to Portland, Oregon, to pursue academia and a post-doctoral research fellowship funded by the National Institutes of Health at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM). Upon completion of her fellowship, she resumed private practice within an interdisciplinary gynecology practice and was staff acupuncturist at Oregon Reproductive Medicine. She was adjunct faculty at OCOM, Bastyr University, American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and was Visiting Research Faculty at the Oregon Health and Science University. She continues to guest lecture internationally.

Dr. Hullender Rubin is also a clinical researcher with primary research interests in acupuncture and Chinese medicine’s impact on female fertility and in vitro fertilization birth outcomes and acupuncture’s effect to reduce vulvodynia, a female sexual pain syndrome. She has authored several publications and was invited to present her research at the Mayo Clinic and Columbia University, and has presented at research congresses for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Society for Acupuncture Research, International Research Congress for Integrative Medicine and Health, British Acupuncture Council, and the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Diseases.
