Michael McCarthy has been a clinical practitioner of Chinese and Energetic Medicine since 1992. He holds a Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Bodywork from the University of Westminster and is a graduate of the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland where he obtained his Licentiate in Acupuncture and Certificate in Clinical Tuina and the School of Chinese Herbal Medicine (UK) where he received his Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine. He also holds clinical certificates in Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Qi Gong from the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Heibei State Qi Gong training centre, Beidaihe, in the PRC. He is Director of the Dublin Centre for Classical Chinese Medicine.
He is a Board member and past Chairperson of the Irish Register of Chinese Medical Herbalists, the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association and is past Chairman of the Irish Herbal Practitioners Association. He is also a past Board member of the National Herbal Council in the Republic of Ireland.
He was also Editor-in-Chief of the Thieme Almanac of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and has contributed many articles on various aspects of the field of clinical practice and theory. Since 1994 he is also the developer of a unique bodywork clinical practice model called Micro Movement Therapy ©.
